Our college “Graphic
Era Hill University” is one such institution which strives hard in “Transforming
Dreams Into Reality”.
Let me take
you on a tour to the most important part of my college, “the library”.
A library is
the heart and soul of an institution. It is the storehouse of books and
repository of knowledge. An educational institution without a library is just a
house without kitchen. When students read in higher classes their desire for
knowledge increases. Desire for knowledge is best satisfied when the students
enter a room of books. In college library, there are rich varieties of journals
and periodicals. It is rightly said that ‘A library is reservoir of knowledge’.
Although
many students go to library, it is a place of silence. There is no noise.
Everybody treats it as a sacred place. There are different catalogues of books.
My college library has more than 50,000 books concerning almost all walks of
life like philosophy, fine arts, religion, science, general knowledge and many
more books related to every department’s course written by masterminds. My
college library also stores lot of novels of different authors. My college
library meets the requirements of the students and teachers as it has a huge
collection of books of different subjects.
The library
is well maintained by the staff consisting of librarian, some assistants and
few clerks. Sir Himanshu Rawat is the librarian of graphic era hill university.
They are responsible for keeping the
books with care. They arrange the books in the bookshelves nicely and
systematically so that students and teachers can easily find out their desired
books. If one wants to issue the book he/she just need to follow the simple
procedure. Every student is provided with a ID card, they submit their cards at
the library counter and then issue the book of their choice. The librarian
keeps the record of the books issued and returned with the help of the students
ID card. One can issue only five books at a time.
The college library
is meant for helping the students and teachers. It play the role of providing mental food to students and teachers. It is said that “A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life”.
